Becky Dempsey
 Director
North Texas Region

Becky Dempsey joined the Texas Department of Agriculture in 2007 and currently serves as Regional Director in the North Texas Region (Dallas).  Prior to her January 2014 appointment, Becky served as Director of the Community Development Block Grant Program in TDA’s Office of Rural Affairs and Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Rural Economic Development.

As former Smith County Judge, Becky began her public service career in 1997 when she was appointed to fill the unexpired term of the Smith County District Clerk.  She was elected to that position the same year.  In 2002 Smith County voters overwhelmingly elected her Smith County Judge.

During her career, she served on many local and state boards and received recognition for outstanding public service, women in public service, and for her efforts in promoting regional economic development.  A native Texan, she has a passion for promoting the state and as you might imagine has much to say.

Becky received her education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and prior to entering public service was a legal assistant.

Her greatest blessings are her children and grandchildren.  Her English Springer Spaniel is a close third.
