Texas Ag Market News Summary

Feeder cattle auctions higher prices; futures down.

Formula trades inactive; Beef prices up.

Cotton prices up.

Grains and soybeans down.

Milk futures down.

Crude oil down; Natural gas up.

Stock markets mixed.

 

Cattle:

Texas feeder cattle auctions reported higher prices, ranging from $2 to $6 higher. March Feeder cattle futures were down, dropping 65 cents to close at $143.75 per hundredweight (cwt). The Texas fed cattle cash had no reportable trade. April Live cattle futures were up, 33 cents to close at $123.12 per cwt.


Cotton:

March cotton futures up, closing at 84.20 cents per pound.


Corn and Grain Sorghum:

Corn Cash prices steady, closing at $4.00 per bushel. March corn futures steady, closing at $3.79 per bushel. Grain sorghum cash prices were down, closing at $6.33 per cwt.


 

Wheat:

Wheat prices were down, with cash prices to close at $4.95 per bushel and March wheat futures dropping 2 cents to close at $5.24 per bushel.


Milk:

Milk futures were down to close at $14.16 per cwt.

 

Stock Markets and Crude Oil:

Stock markets were mixed, with two major indexes showing slight improvement. Crude oil futures were down $1.24  to close at $61.28 per barrel.
