Slaughter Cattle:

Thus far for Monday trade has been mostly inactive in all feeding regions. Not enough sales in any feed region for an adequate market test. The latest established market was last week in all feeding regions. Last week in the Texas Panhandle, live trades were from 109.00 to 110.00. In Kansas last week, live trades were mostly at 108.00. For the prior week in Nebraska, live purchases were mostly at 109.00, with dressed purchases mostly at 172.00. In the Western Cornbelt, last week saw live trades from 108.00 to 109.00 and dressed purchases from 172.00 to 173.00.

Alberta Beef Producers Daily Report:

Alberta direct cattle sales last week saw light to moderate trade develop with weighted average steer and heifer prices closing the week at 144.75 and 144.00 respectively. Prices are 2.00 higher than the previous week. All reported cash sales traded locally. Total beef and veal exports from January to April are up 4.5% compared to last year. Looking at the non-fed market butcher cows and bulls traded 0.50-2.00 lower through commercial auction facilities last week.

National Grain Market Summary:

Compared to Friday, cash bids for wheat, corn, soybeans and sorghum were mostly lower.  Concerns continue to grow with rising trade hostilities between the U.S. and its trading partners, namely China.  In addition to this, corn is receiving pressure from favorable crop weather.  SRW wheat crop quality remain a concern due to the wet weather.
