Daily Market Summary for December 20th

Slaughter Cattle:  

As of 3:00 PM, Thursday negotiated cash trading has been at a standstill in the Southern Plains. Last week live cash trades moved at 119.00 in the Southern Plains. So far for Thursday in Nebraska negotiated cash trading has been slow to moderate on moderate demand. Compared to last week dressed cash trades moved 2.00 higher at 190.00. Not enough live cash trades for a market trend. Last week live cash trades moved at 118.00. Thus far for Thursday in the Western Cornbelt negotiated cash trading has been limited with light demand. A few early live and dressed cash trades have moved at 120.00 and 190.00, respectively. However, not enough trades for a market trend. For the previous week in the Western Cornbelt live and dressed cash trades moved mostly at 117.00 and 187.00, respectively.

Alberta Beef Producers Daily Report:

Alberta direct cattle sales Wednesday saw no new trade to report, dressed bids of 258.00 delivered have been reported with no selling interest. Bids are 2.00 lower than last week. Many producers have sold what they needed to sell for this year. Feedlot inventories are current enough cattle could stay on feed for an additional couple of weeks. If bids do not improve sale volumes will be light this week.
