Slaughter Cattle:  

As of 3:00 PM Friday, trade and demand was moderate in the Texas Panhandle with limited trade on moderate demand in Kansas. Compared to Wednesday, live purchases in the Southern Plains traded steady at 111.00. Trade was light on moderate demand in Nebraska and the Western Cornbelt. A few early live purchases were reported in Nebraska from 114.00-114.50, however not enough for an adequate market test. In Nebraska on Wednesday, dressed purchases traded from 180.00-185.00, bulk at 185.00. Last week in Nebraska live purchases traded from 114.00-115.00, bulk at 115.00. In the Western Cornbelt on Wednesday, live purchases traded from 115.00-116.00 with dressed purchases mostly at 185.00.

Alberta Beef Producers Daily Report: Alberta CA

Alberta direct cattle sales Thursday saw light trade develop with dressed sales and bids reported from 246.00-247.00 delivered. Bids and sales are steady to 1.00 higher than prices seen on Wednesday and fully steady with the previous week. Most if not all the cattle that traded this week were being scheduled for the week of August 19th delivery. Cash to futures basis levels did strengthen, for the most part a larger percentage of this week’s cash offering has been clean up.

Boxed beef cutout values firm on Choice and higher on Select on moderate demand and offerings. Select and Choice rib, chuck, round, and loin cuts steady to firm. Beef trimmings mostly firm to slightly higher on moderate demand and offerings.
