Commissioner Miller, GO TEXAN Take Off at Texas Motor Speedway For the Rattlesnake 400 (6/10/2016)

Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is at Texas Motor Speedway today for the NASCAR Camping World Series Rattlesnake 400 to promote the partnership between GO TEXAN, AM Racing and NASCAR driver Austin Wayne Self. Commissioner Miller toured the garage and will attend the driver/crew chief meeting before Self participates in the Rattlesnake 400 race in his No. 22 Toyota Tundra this evening.

“It’s great to be out at the race track today, supporting GO TEXAN and Austin in his No. 22 Toyota Tundra, and we’re getting a firsthand look at how NASCAR operates,” Commissioner Miller said. “Being on the ground and watching the action is a great experience, but most importantly, I’m so happy we are able to work with a Texas-based company that partners with other Lone Star State companies to promote Texas products to NASCAR fans across the nation.”

The partnership between the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) GO TEXAN program and AM Racing for the 2016 Camping World Series season was announced back in January. As a GO TEXAN member, AM Racing and Self promote the GO TEXAN program and the best of Texas.

Through GO TEXAN, TDA promotes Texas-grown and Texas-made goods to consumers around the world. As a GO TEXAN member, AM Racing proudly displays the GO TEXAN mark on the hood of the No. 22 truck and Self’s race gear. AM Racing also has partnerships with GO TEXAN members Black’s Barbecue, Texas Tea, Rick’s Salsa and Four Escobars Barbecue Sauces.

AM Racing is a Texas-based company, owned by Texans and featuring a native-Texan driver. 2016 marks Self’s rookie year in the NASCAR Camping World Series. Self’s vehicle is a Toyota Tundra with the 2016 body style that looks just like the ones made in San Antonio.

“I’m excited and thankful to have the Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN campaign on board our No. 22 Toyota Tundra this season,” Self said. “I’m a big supporter of Texas-made products and believe strong teamwork drives success, and that’s what GO TEXAN represents.”

The Camping World Truck Series race airs on Fox Sports 1 at 8 p.m. (CDT) tonight. To learn more about GO TEXAN and find Texas-made goods near you, visit gotexan.org, and to learn more about AM Racing and Self, visit www.AWSRacing.com.
