Commissioner Miller Applauds Hold on EPA's WOTUS Ruling (10/9/2015)

Earlier this year Commissioner Sid Miller joined Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in a lawsuit to stop the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from its illegal attempt to greatly expand the jurisdiction of the Clean Water Act.

Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ordered a nationwide stay against the EPA’s enforcement of what has been known as the “Waters of the United States “ (WOTUS) rule. This means the EPA cannot move forward with their attempt to illegally expand their regulation of Texas waters until further ruling by the court.

Commissioner Miller praised the ruling saying, “This is an important step to halting the EPA’s attempt to threaten our private property rights, individual freedom and economic growth in Texas. We are rejoicing in this victory, but will continue to fight the war against overreaching federal government.” He continued, “Our farmers and ranchers are the original environmentalists, conservationists and stewards of the land. They know how to protect the land far better than some bureaucrat in Washington.”
