State Trade Expansion Program (STEP)

Closed. The TEXAS STEP Grant will NOT be accepting applications in the 2024-2025 program year. Upon future appropriations, the website will be updated or you may sign up to receive notifications when future information becomes available.

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) received a State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration. TDA will administer STEP through partnerships that include the Office of the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism Division and the U.S. Department of Commerce. No other federal funds will be matched against this award.

Purpose:
The program’s objectives are to 1) increase the number of small businesses that are exporting, and 2) increase the value of exports for those small businesses that are currently exporting. STEP will provide financial assistance to small business to create or expand their export capacity.
