Road stations are one of the most visible efforts that go on behind the scenes to keep the food supply safe. The TDA operates three road stations – in Orange, Terrell, and Mount Pleasant.

The Biosecurity Enforcement Division of the Texas Department of Agriculture is responsible for protecting Texas agriculture from invasive pests, plant diseases, and other biosecurity threats. Operating roadside inspection stations at major entry points into the state, the division inspects shipments of plants, produce, and nursery stock to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Officers verify permits and phytosanitary documentation, enforce quarantines, monitor for invasive species, and take swift action when violations occur, including rejecting or destroying noncompliant shipments. Backed by the Texas Agriculture Code, the division plays a key role in safeguarding the state’s $25 billion agricultural industry by preventing harmful pests and diseases from entering or spreading within Texas.
