Texas Daily Ag Market News Summary 11/4/15

Feeder cattle auction quoted prices of $3 to $20 higher; futures lower.

Fed cattle cash trade inactive; formula trades lower; futures lower; beef prices mixed.

Cotton lower.

Grains and soybeans mixed.

Crude oil lower; natural gas higher.

Stock markets lower.

 

 

 

 

Texas feeder cattle auctions quoted prices from $3 to $20 higher. Feeder cattle futures were $4.50 lower, closing at $186.15 per hundredweight (cwt). The Texas fed cattle cash trade was inactive today. Wholesale boxed beef values were mixed, with Choice grade gaining $1.74 and Select grade losing $0.63, settling at $220.14 and $209.69 per cwt, respectively. Estimated cattle harvest for the week totaled 333,000 head, up 1,000 from last week, and on par with a year ago. Fed cattle futures were $3.00 lower, closing at $137.22 per cwt.

 

Cotton cash prices were steady remaining at 60.63 cents per pound. Futures prices were lower, losing 0.63 cents, closing at 61.94 cents per pound.

 

Corn and grain sorghum prices were mixed, with corn cash prices losing $0.05 and futures prices staying steady, settling at $3.91 and $3.81 per bushel, respectively. Grain Sorghum cash prices were steady, settling at $5.99 per cwt.

 

Wheat prices were higher with cash and futures prices both gaining $0.05, settling at $4.12 and $4.93 per bushel, respectively.

 

Stock markets closed slightly lower today, as Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen hinted that an interest rate increase at the central bank’s next meeting was a “live possibility”. Crude oil prices closed $1.58 lower today, settling at $46.32 per barrel.
