Texas Daily Ag Market News Summary 12/2/15

Feeder cattle auctions reported prices steady to $15 higher; futures lower.

Fed cattle cash trade was inactive; futures lower; beef prices mixed.

Cotton lower.

Grains and soybeans lower.

Crude oil lower; natural gas lower.

Stock markets lower.

 

 

Texas feeder cattle auctions reported prices steady to $15 higher. Feeder cattle futures were $3.68 lower, closing at $160.72 per hundredweight (cwt). The Texas fed cattle cash trade was inactive today. Whole sale boxed beef values were mixed with choice grade gaining $0.27 closing at $204.08 per cwt; select grade lost $0.44 closing at $192.25 per cwt. Fed cattle futures were $3.00 lower, closing at $132.10 per cwt. Estimated cattle harvest for the week totaled 323,000 head, down 8,000 from last week and 6,000 from last year’s total. Year-to-date harvest is down 1%.

 

Cotton cash prices were lower, losing 0.01 cents to close at 61.12 cents per pound; December futures lost 0.09 cents closing at 62.11 cents per pound.

 

Corn prices were lower, with corn cash prices losing $0.03 to close at $3.73; December corn futures lost $0.03 to close at $3.64 per bushel.

 

Wheat prices were lower with cash prices losing $0.03 to close at $3.71 per bushel; futures prices lost $0.04 to close at $4.48 per bushel.

 

Stock markets were lower today, brought down by energy stocks, as U.S. crude oil dropped below $40 a barrel. Crude oil prices were lower, losing $1.91 closing at $39.94 per barrel.
