Texas Daily Ag Market News Summary 12/14/15

Feeder cattle auctions reported prices steady to $15 lower; futures lower.

Fed cattle cash trade inactive; futures lower; beef prices mixed.

Cotton lower.

Grains and soybeans higher.

Crude oil higher; natural gas lower.

Stock markets higher.

 

 

Texas feeder cattle auctions reported prices steady to $15 lower. Feeder cattle futures were $3.97 lower, closing at $148.15 per hundredweight (cwt). The Texas fed cattle cash trade was inactive today. Whole sale boxed beef values were mixed with choice grade losing $3.72 to close at $198.78 per cwt; select grade gained $0.30 closing at $186.73 per cwt. Fed cattle futures were $1.93 lower, closing at $119.52 per cwt. Estimated cattle harvest for the week totaled 112,000 head, up 2,000 from last week and 1,000 from last year’s total. 

 

Cotton prices were lower with cash prices losing 0.25 cents to close at 61.87 cents per pound; March futures prices lost 0.33 cents to close at 63.38 cents per pound.

 

Corn prices were higher with cash prices gaining $0.04 to close at $3.83 per bushel; December corn futures prices gained $0.09 to close at $3.82 per bushel. Grain Sorghum cash prices gained $0.07 to close at $5.87 per cwt.

 

Wheat prices were higher with cash prices gaining $0.04 to close at $3.97 per bushel; December futures prices gained $0.05 to close at $4.73 per bushel.

 

Stock markets were higher today, stocks rebounded behind the slight increase in oil prices. Crude oil prices were higher, gaining $0.69 closing at $36.31 per barrel.
