Texas Daily Ag Market News Summary 02/10/16

Feeder cattle auctions reported prices steady to $10 lower; Futures higher.

Fed cattle cash trade inactive; Formula trades higher; Futures higher; Beef prices higher.

Cotton higher.

Grains and soybeans lower.

Milk futures lower.

Crude oil lower; Natural gas lower.

Stock markets steady.

 

 

Texas feeder cattle auctions reported prices steady to $10 lower per cwt, one location reported prices steady to $4 higher per cwt. Feeder cattle futures were $2.22 higher, closing at $151.22 per hundredweight (cwt). The Texas fed cattle cash trade was inactive today. Whole sale boxed beef values were higher with choice grade gaining $0.16 to close at $218.19 per cwt; select grade gained $0.02 to close at $213.62 per cwt. Fed cattle futures were $1.07 higher, closing at $132.47 per cwt. Estimated cattle harvest for the week totaled 323,000 head up 42,000 from last week and 4,000 from last year.

 

Cotton prices were higher with cash prices gaining 0.25 cents to close at 57.37 cents per pound; March futures gained 0.24 cents to close at 58.88 cents per pound.

 

Corn prices were lower with cash and futures prices both losing $0.01 to close at $3.65 and $3.60 per bushel, respective. Grain Sorghum cash prices were lower, losing $0.02 to close at $5.53 per cwt.

 

Wheat prices were mixed with cash prices losing $0.01 to close at $3.59 per bushel; March futures prices were steady to remain at $4.45 per bushel.

 

Milk prices were lower with February Class III milk futures losing $0.03 to close at $13.79 per cwt.

 

Stock markets were steady today, as investors are still cautious to buy stocks while this high volatility is continuing. Crude oil prices were lower losing $0.49 to close at $27.45 per barrel.
