Texas Daily Ag Market News Summary 04/27/16

Feeder cattle auctions reported prices $3 to $8 lower; Futures lower.

Fed cattle cash trade inactive; Formula trades higher; Futures lower; Beef prices lower.

Cotton higher.

Grains and Soybeans lower.

Milk futures steady.

Crude oil higher; Natural gas lower.

Stock markets higher.

 

 

Texas feeder cattle auctions reported prices $3 to $8 lower, with one instance of $2 to $4 higher per cwt. Feeder cattle futures were $0.27 lower, closing at $146.30 per hundredweight (cwt). The Texas fed cattle cash trade was inactive today. Whole sale boxed beef values were lower with choice grade losing $3.76 to close at $214.81 per cwt and select grade losing $4.79 to close at $205.59 per cwt. Fed cattle futures were $0.80 lower, closing at $126.00 per cwt. Estimated cattle harvest for the week totaled 335,000 head up 2,000 from last week’s total and up 1,000 from last year’s total.

 

Cotton prices were higher with cash prices gaining 0.25 cents to close at 59.12 cents per pound and May futures gaining 0.61 cents to close at 64.07 per pound.

 

Corn prices were lower with cash prices losing $0.02 to close at $3.83 and May corn futures losing $0.01 to close at $3.81 per bushel. Grain Sorghum cash prices were lower losing $0.04 to close at $5.53 per cwt.

 

Wheat prices were lower with cash prices losing $0.03 to close at $3.86 and May wheat futures losing $0.02 to close at $4.64 per bushel.

 

Milk prices were steady with April Class III Milk futures remaining at $13.63 per cwt.

 

Stock Markets were higher today, as the Federal Reserve implied that it was in no hurry to raise interest rates. Crude oil prices were higher, with June Crude oil futures gaining $1.29 to close at $45.3 per barrel.
