Texas Daily Ag Market News Summary

Feeder cattle auctions mixed prices; futures down.

Formula trades inactive; Beef prices up.

Cotton prices down.

Grains and soybeans up.

Milk futures up.

Crude oil down; Natural gas up.

Stock markets up.

 

Cattle:

Texas feeder cattle auctions reported mixed prices, ranging from $2 lower to $6 higher. March Feeder cattle futures were down, dropping 72 cents to close at $144.25 per hundredweight (cwt). The Texas fed cattle cash had no reportable trade. April Live cattle futures were down, losing 42 cents to close at $122.80 per cwt.

Cotton:

March cotton futures down, closing at 83.84 cents per pound.

Corn and Grain Sorghum:

Corn prices increased, closing at $4.00 per bushel. March corn futures were up, closing at $3.79 per bushel. Grain sorghum cash prices were up, closing at $6.35 per cwt.


 

Wheat:

Wheat prices were up, with cash prices to close at $5.02 per bushel and March wheat futures dropping 7 cents to close at $5.26 per bushel.


Milk:

Milk futures were up to close at $14.17 per cwt.

 

Stock Markets and Crude Oil:

Stock markets were making modest gains, with all the three major indexes showing slight improvement. Crude oil futures were down 5 cents to close at $62.52 per barrel.
