Slaughter Cattle:

As of 3:00 PM Monday, negotiated cash trade was mostly inactive on light demand in all feeding regions. Last week in the Southern Plains live purchases traded at 106.00. Last week in Nebraska live purchases traded from 107.00-108.00 and a light test with dressed purchases from 170.00-178.00, bulk from 175.00.-178.00 on a light test. For the previous week in the Western Cornbelt, on a light test, live purchases traded mostly at 110.00 with dressed purchases from 174.00-178.00.

Alberta Beef Producers Daily Report: Alberta CA

Alberta direct cattle sales last week saw light trade develop with weighted average steer and heifer prices closing the week at 141.50 and 141.25 respectively. Weighted average prices are now at the lowest point since October 2017. Looking at the non-fed market butcher cows traded 1.00 lower through commercial auction facilities last week. Non-fed supplies remain very manageable but supplies are expected to increase heading into September.

Boxed Beef: 

Boxed beef cutout values firm on Choice and lower on Select on light to moderate demand and light offerings. Select and Choice chuck and round cuts steady to weak while loin cuts firm. Choice rib cuts steady while Select lower. Beef trimmings mostly firm to higher on moderate to good demand and moderate offerings.
