COMMISSIONER MILLER KICKS OFF NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK CELEBRATIONS (2/28/2025)

TDA and Texas schools set to recognize the advantages gained when students eat a nutritious school breakfast

Austin – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced schools across Texas will celebrate National School Breakfast Week March 3-7 using the theme Clue In To School Breakfast. School nutrition teams in Texas partner with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to serve about 1.6 million breakfasts to students daily through the National School Breakfast Program. Schools will celebrate with promotional materials developed by TDA in collaboration with the School Nutrition Association.

“Eating a healthy breakfast at school can have a big impact on children’s attendance, test scores, and overall academic success,” Commissioner Miller said. “For National School Breakfast Week, I’m encouraging students to show their appreciation for nutrition teams by starting the day with school breakfast during National School Breakfast Week. I want to ensure that after the weekends, they will know that eating breakfast at school will help them succeed and thrive every day.”

This year, TDA expanded the variety of resources offered by making everything available online. Schools will find a Do-It-Yourself Celebration Guide and much more at SquareMeals.org/SBW. Other resources include an activity kit, a marketing toolkit, and coloring sheets. All the materials support this year’s theme, Clue In to School Breakfast. The theme engages students with a mystery-inspired motif focused on nutritious and delicious school breakfast foods.
