Commissioner Miller Requests Applications For Shrimp Marketing Advisory Committee (12/21/2015)

AUSTIN - Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today issued an open call for applications to fill seats on the Texas Shrimp Marketing Program Advisory Committee. The committee was created by the Texas Legislature in 2003 to assist the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) in marketing Texas Gulf shrimp. The committee also assesses the state of the Texas shrimp industry and develops recommendations for Commissioner Miller to pursue in promoting and expanding the industry.

“With Texas Gulf shrimp, you can trust the quality and certainly taste the difference,” Commissioner Miller said. “The members of this advisory committee are critical to helping TDA grow the shrimp industry in the Texas Gulf, creating jobs and opportunity for Texans through the promotion of this critical industry.”

The Texas Shrimp Marketing Program Advisory Committee is looking for the following positions:

- seafood restaurant industry leader,
- retail wild caught shrimp dealer,
- commercial Gulf shrimp boat owners and
- representative of the general public.

Applications are available online. Should you have questions about the application, contact Robert Champion Jr., coordinator for marketing at TDA, at (512) 475-3303.

The deadline to submit an application is Jan. 22, 2016.
