Free Tree Saplings at the State Fair; GO TEXAN Pavilion the Spot to Visit (10/7/2016)

The State Fair of Texas is the best place to show your Texas pride and immerse yourself in the culture of the Lone Star State. Be sure to stop by the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) GO TEXAN Pavilion at the State Fair for the best of Texas. TDA is gearing up for another exciting week — Oct. 10 to 16, 2016 — in the Pavilion. There will be many performances, giveaways and samplings, as well as demonstrations on the main stage. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

·         Smokey Bear and free tree saplings, presented by the Texas Forestry Association, to the first 2,000 visitors to the GO TEXAN Pavilion on Monday, Oct. 10

·         Hill College’s jazz ensemble and choir

·         A cowboy trick roper presented by Angelina County Fair

·         Blue Bell Ice Cream Float Day

·         TDA’s own Office of Rural Affairs

·         The Panola College Pipers

·         Boot and baseball glove leather demonstrations

·         Cooking with honey demonstration by Texas Beekeepers Association

·         The Kilgore Rangerettes

TDA’s GO TEXAN Pavilion is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The State Fair runs through Oct. 23. Click here for a map of the fairgrounds, a list of vendors in the GO TEXAN General Store and more.
