STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER SID MILLER WELCOMING KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN TO TEXAS
Businesses across the nation are choosing Texas as their destination for many reasons. Above all, no state is better for business than the Lone Star State. I am proud to welcome Kentucky Fried Chicken as they join the ranks of major companies like Charles Schwab Corporation, Chevron, Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), and SpaceX—along with many others seeking greater growth opportunities in Texas. STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER SID MILLER SUPPORTING LT. GOVERNOR DAN PATRICK’S CALL FOR AN EVALUATION OF TEXAS LOTTERY SECURITY
As Texas Agriculture Commissioner, my top priority is ensuring fairness, integrity, and public trust in all areas under our agency’s oversight. The Texas Department of Agriculture plays a vital role in safeguarding the security of the Texas Lottery by conducting meticulous inspections of lottery ping pong balls. These inspections account for every variable—climate, lab conditions, and even the material of the weighing table—to guarantee absolute accuracy and prevent any chance of manipulation. Texans who purchase a lottery ticket deserve complete confidence in a fair and transparent process.  [More]

STATEMENT BY TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER BLASTING BIDEN ADMINISTRATION'S “DIETARY GUIDELINES”
The Biden administration’s so-called ‘scientific’ report for the 2025 Dietary Guidelines is nothing more than a politically driven attack on American agriculture. This is just a continuation of the woke left’s war on the meat industry due to climate change nonsense and feel-good dietary agendas. They claim their recommendations are ‘science-backed’ and ‘data-driven,’ but if that were true, why does their report ignore the overwhelming evidence that beef is good for you and essential to a balanced diet?  [More]

STATEMENT FROM TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER ON SENATE BILL 17’S PROPOSAL TO BAN ENEMY FOREIGN LAND OWNERSHIP
I have long fought to ensure that our precious farm and rural lands remain free from purchases by foreign adversaries. Our property and agricultural lands are vital to national security. I applaud Senator Lois Kolkhorst for introducing Senate Bill 17, an essential piece of legislation aimed at protecting Texas land from foreign entities that pose a threat to our security. This is simply common sense. Texas farmers and ranchers work tirelessly to feed and fuel America, and we must preserve our land for their use. We cannot allow hostile nations to gain control over our land, resources, or food supply.  [More]

The discussion focused on the ongoing impact of avian influenza and potential improvements to the national response. Secretary Rollins’ swift action in organizing these discussions—just days into her tenure—illustrates her passion for the agriculture industry and her commitment to our producers in rural Texas. I am excited for our continued collaboration to support Texas agriculture and the hardworking producers who depend on our efforts.  [More]

STATEMENT FROM TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER ON CARTEL VIOLENCE NEAR THE TEXAS-MEXICO BORDER
A tragic and alarming incident occurred near Brownsville, Texas, where a U.S. citizen and  Texas rancher was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED). This shocking act of violence highlights the growing threat posed by cartel activity along our southern border. I urge all Texas farmers, ranchers, and agricultural workers who travel to Mexico or operate near the border to exercise extreme caution. The Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV) is a crucial part of Texas agriculture, and the safety of our agricultural community is of utmost importance. We cannot overlook the rising violence that threatens not only lives but also the security of our farms, ranches, and rural communities.  [More]
