Commissioner Miller Statement on USDA Trade Mission to Mexico and Opening of Tampico Sterile Fly Facility
I commend USDA Secretary Rollins for the opening of the sterile fly dispersal facility in Tampico, Mexico, and for leading a highly successful trade mission that delivered historic results for both the United States and Mexico. Texas and U.S. producers depend on Mexico as a top export market for corn, soybeans, beef, dairy, and specialty crops, and this mission helped open new to U.S. commodities and cutting-edge agriculture technology. Dozens of businesses were able to meet directly with Mexican buyers, co-ops, and distributors, and these relationships will pay historic dividends to American agriculture for years.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Proudly Announces $150,000 Donation by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to the STAR Fund
Commissioner of Agriculture Sid Miller today announced a generous $150,000 donation by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to the State of Texas Agriculture Relief (STAR) Fund to bolster ongoing relief efforts for the central Texas agriculture community impacted by the tragic July flooding. STAR Fund applications are still being accepted and will close on November 30th. The donation is part of a larger $500,000 total that the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has donated for flood recovery efforts in the Texas Hill Country.   [More]

Commissioner Miller Applauds AgriLife Research Mapping Monarch Migration
Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) today thanked Texas A&M AgriLife, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for their important collaborative research mapping Monarch butterfly migration along Texas highways. The study, which identifies migration corridors for the Monarch Butterfly, is a welcome example of how sound science, cooperation, and private-land stewardship protect pollinators without burdensome federal overreach.  [More]
