Commissioner Miller Applauds FDA Emergency Authorization of New Tool to Combat New World Screwworm

Commissioner Sid Miller Recognizes National CACFP Week
Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller encouraged Texans to show their support for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) during National CACFP Week, March 15-21. CACFP is a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) program that supports good nutrition at adult day care centers, childcare centers, home-based day cares, and afterschool programs. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers the program for the Texas CACFP organizations that served more than 200 million balanced meals last year.  [More]

Commissioner Sid Miller Launches Farm Fresh Push for Top-Tier School Meals
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) have teamed up with the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to elevate school nutrition across the state. The first of ten five-day Farm Fresh Culinary workshops wrapped up last week at the CIA’s San Antonio campus. Funded by a USDA grant, the program delivered hands-on training, cooking demos, and classroom instruction to 21 school nutrition professionals—chefs, dietitians, menu planners, and kitchen managers.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Announces Launch of Agricultural Defense Program to Protect Texas Producers from Pests, Disease, and Predators
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today announced the opening of the Agricultural Defense Program (AgDefense), a new initiative administered in partnership with the Texas Agricultural Finance Authority (TAFA) to help protect Texas farmers and ranchers from costly threats posed by agricultural pests, diseases, and depredating animals.  [More]
