Commissioner Miller Awards More Than $43 Million in Federal Funds to Rural Texas for Infrastructure Improvements (10/8/2015)

AUSTIN - Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today announced the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has awarded $43 million to communities across the state for critically needed infrastructure improvements. These federal funds are administered through TDA’s Texas Community Development Block Grant (TxCDBG) program to create viable communities, suitable living conditions and expand economic opportunities in rural Texas.

These funds enable communities to complete projects such as building new or improving existing water or sewer infrastructure, roads, and other necessary community services. In some cases, these funds enable a community to bring piped potable water to its residents for the first time, or protecting residents from losing access to water in case of reoccurring severe drought conditions.
