Texas Daily Ag Market News Summary 5/26/15

Texas feeder cattle auctions quoted prices steady to $2 higher. Feeder cattle futures settled $0.20 higher to close at $220.30 per hundredweight (cwt). The Texas fed cattle cash market quoted prices of $160.00 per cwt. Wholesale boxed beef values were lower, with Choice Grade settling at $260.25 per cwt and Select Grade at $247.62 per cwt. Estimated cattle harvest for last week totaled 566,000 head, down 3,000 from week’s total and 39,000 from a year ago. Year-to-date harvest is down 6.4%. Fed cattle futures were $0.25 lower, closing at $152.13 per cwt.

Cotton prices were mixed, with cash down 0.50 cents and futures 1.57 cents higher.

Corn and grain sorghum prices were mostly higher, with corn cash prices gaining $0.07 and futures losing $0.05. Grain sorghum cash prices rose $0.11 to close at $6.99 per cwt. Soybean futures prices were $0.15 lower.

Wheat cash and futures prices were lower, with cash closing $0.25 lower to settle at $4.88 per bushel and futures losing $0.11 to settle at $5.47 per bushel. 

Stock markets closed lower, marking the end of a week of quiet trading. Crude oil prices fell $1.00 to close at $59.72 per barrel, due in part to the strengthening dollar.
