Commissioner Miller Calls for Vigilance After Latest New World Screwworm Detection in Mexico
The continued detections of New World screwworm near the Texas border are grim reminders of the serious threat this pest poses to our state. Thanks to the efforts of USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins and USDA APHIS working in coordination with Mexico, its northward spread has been halted, and this recent case promises to be a one-off, for now. But to fully eradicate this threat, the bottom line remains unchanged: we need sterile flies. I said as much a year ago when I criticized the Biden Administration’s failed efforts to corral this pest—dollars don’t kill screwworms, sterile flies do.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Praises USDA’s Announced Farmer Bridge Assistance Program Payment Rates
America’s farmers have endured a year of rising costs and unfair market disruption, and today’s announcement from USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins delivers real, timely relief. The Farmer Bridge Assistance Program provides clear payment rates and fast assistance producers can count on as they plan for the 2026 growing season. I applaud President Trump and Secretary Rollins for putting farmers first, restoring certainty to the farm economy, and strengthening the farm safety net. These bridge payments will help Texas producers stay afloat and continue feeding and clothing our nation.  [More]

Since February 2025, TDA has collected seed deliveries at 109 locations across the Lone Star State, totaling 1,101 packs of unsolicited seeds. While small in appearance, these packages represent a serious and ongoing threat to the nation’s agricultural biosecurity.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Statement on Reset of U.S. Nutrition Policy
Real food is not a trend. It’s common sense. For decades, Washington bureaucrats and special interests shoved ultra-processed junk down America’s throat while ignoring the farmers and ranchers who actually feed this nation. The result: exploding healthcare costs and worsening health for millions.  [More]
