Statement by Commissioner Miller Regarding GAO Finding on EPA Promotion

AUSTIN - Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today released the following statement regarding a finding by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) acted illegally in its social media promotion of the Clean Water Act, also known as the Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule.

"GAO's finding that the EPA violated the law by using propaganda to influence public opinion on the WOTUS rule is just the latest example of an out-of-control EPA acting outside of the law to advance its own activist agenda. This is further confirmation that WOTUS cannot stand on its own merits, and that is why the Texas Department of Agriculture is part of the effort to stop the implementation of this heavy-handed rule through the court system. I'm hopeful that this is another step toward stopping this outrageous federal overreach."
