COMMISSIONER SID MILLER PRAISES THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S HISTORIC AGREEMENT WITH MEXICO
Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller praised the U.S. Department of State’s announcement regarding negotiations between the Trump Administration and Mexico. These discussions have resulted in an agreement aimed at better addressing the water needs of Texas farmers and ranchers in line with the 1944 Water Treaty. Under this agreement, Mexico has committed to transferring water from international reservoirs and enhancing the U.S. share of water flow in six of Mexico’s Rio Grande tributaries until the current five-year water cycle concludes.  [More]

STATEMENT FROM TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER COMMENDING USDA SECRETARY BROOKE ROLLINS’ LEADERSHIP TO COMBAT NEW WORLD SCREWWORM THREAT
Tuesday, April 29, 2025, I fully support U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and the USDA’s recent appeal to Mexico about their limitations on USDA aircraft and customs duties for eradication equipment, which significantly hinder the U.S. response to the New World Screwworm outbreak. The escalating threat just south of our border, exacerbated by Mexico's barriers to our response teams and equipment, now presents a serious and urgent risk to Texas and American agriculture. Each day that we lose operational ground strengthens this deadly threat's foothold.  [More]

STATEMENT FROM COMMISSIONER SID MILLER PRAISING USDA SECRETARY BROOKE ROLLINS’ FIRST 100 DAYS OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Tuesday, April 29, 2025, I am immensely proud of the exceptional leadership U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins has displayed in the first 100 days of her administration. Secretary Rollins has demonstrated to the world that she embraces President Donald J. Trump's bold vision of prioritizing America and its farmers. From the very beginning, Secretary Rollins engaged actively, traveling nationwide to connect with producers and agricultural organizations to understand their needs firsthand.  [More]
