Commissioner Sid Miller Statement on Texas Fluoride Settlement
I commend Attorney General Ken Paxton for standing up for Texas parents and putting children’s health first. AG Paxton and I agree — when parents are teaching their kids something as basic as brushing their teeth, they should be able to trust that the information on the package is honest, accurate, and responsible. Instead, toothpaste packaging consistently depicts excessive amounts of toothpaste, contradicting the fine print on the back of the box that reads “a pea-sized amount.” Due to the documented health risks, misleading images that encourage excessive fluoride use have no place in products made for children.  [More]

Commissioner Sid Miller Sounds Urgent Alarm: Additional Screwworm Case Detected Just 215 Miles from Texas Border
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today issued a stark warning to livestock producers in Texas and nationwide after Mexican authorities confirmed an additional New World screwworm (NWS) case in a seven-year-old bovine in González, Tamaulipas—only 215 miles south of the Texas border. The infected animal had no reported history of movement outside of Tamaulipas and represents the third active case in the state.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Statement on Reset of U.S. Nutrition Policy
Real food is not a trend. It’s common sense. For decades, Washington bureaucrats and special interests shoved ultra-processed junk down America’s throat while ignoring the farmers and ranchers who actually feed this nation. The result: exploding healthcare costs and worsening health for millions.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Warns Texas as China Mystery Seed Package Deliveries Continue
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) today urged Texans to remain vigilant as unsolicited packages containing unidentified seeds continue to arrive at their doorsteps. Since February 2025, TDA has collected seed deliveries at 109 locations across the Lone Star State, totaling 1,101 packs of unsolicited seeds. While small in appearance, these packages represent a serious and ongoing threat to the nation’s agricultural biosecurity.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Praises USDA’s Announced Farmer Bridge Assistance Program Payment Rates
America’s farmers have endured a year of rising costs and unfair market disruption, and today’s announcement from USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins delivers real, timely relief. The Farmer Bridge Assistance Program provides clear payment rates and fast assistance producers can count on as they plan for the 2026 growing season. I applaud President Trump and Secretary Rollins for putting farmers first, restoring certainty to the farm economy, and strengthening the farm safety net. These bridge payments will help Texas producers stay afloat and continue feeding and clothing our nation.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Calls for Vigilance After Latest New World Screwworm Detection in Mexico
The continued detections of New World screwworm near the Texas border are grim reminders of the serious threat this pest poses to our state. Thanks to the efforts of USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins and USDA APHIS working in coordination with Mexico, its northward spread has been halted, and this recent case promises to be a one-off, for now. But to fully eradicate this threat, the bottom line remains unchanged: we need sterile flies. I said as much a year ago when I criticized the Biden Administration’s failed efforts to corral this pest—dollars don’t kill screwworms, sterile flies do.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Statement on the Passing of Tony Zaweski
Tony Zaweski was a true champion for Texas agriculture and a tireless advocate for the grain and feed industry. His leadership of the Texas Grain & Feed Association helped shape a strong and effective voice for producers and agribusiness across our state. Tony understood that agriculture thrives when good people are willing to serve and lead, and he did exactly that throughout his career. His legacy of service and commitment to Texas agriculture will not be forgotten. My prayers are with his family, friends, and all those who had the honor of working alongside him.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Hails $50 Billion for Rural Health Care, Texas Leads the Way
This announcement proves once again that President Trump understands rural America because he listens to the people who live and work there,” said Commissioner Miller. “While past administrations talked about helping rural communities, President Trump is delivering real results. This funding will strengthen rural hospitals, drive technology investments, support local clinics, expand emergency care, and ensure rural families are not left behind. The Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) Texas State Office of Rural Health will be a critical part of this effort, working in collaboration with Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to strengthen rural hospitals, expand access to care, and ensure rural Texans are not left behind. This funding will support rural hospitals, clinics, emergency services, and the health care workforce that keeps our rural communities strong.  [More]
