OPEN FOR 2024 WILDFIRE & SEVERE WEATHER RELIEF

The STAR Fund (State of Texas Agriculture Relief Fund) was created by the Texas Department of Agriculture to provide relief for Texas farmers and ranchers in times of disaster using monetary donations from private individuals and organizations.

STAR Fund is a reimbursement program designed to assist farmers, ranchers and agribusiness owners in rebuilding fences, restoring operations and paying for other agricultural disaster relief.

If you’d like to help ag producers impacted by the recent 2024 wildfires or other disasters, consider making a donation to the STAR Fund.

Commissioner Miller kicks off 2019 Texas Farm Fresh Jump with Jill Live Tour
Thursday, September 5, 2019, AUSTIN – Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the return of the Texas Farm Fresh Jump with Jill Live Tour for the new school year. Since 2015, these Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) special events have inspired audiences with fun lessons about healthy lifestyle choices like good nutrition and exercise. Commissioner Sid Miller visits Houston to lend a hand in fight against dangerous citrus disease
Thursday, August 29, 2019, AUSTIN — Friday, Commissioner Miller will visit the Houston area Friday to join agency inspectors in destroying a citrus tree infected with the contagious citrus canker disease. Beginning at 9 a.m. CT. Commissioner Miller will address the devastating damage the contagious plant disease can cause to the vital Texas citrus industry and the importance of stopping the invasive disease immediately. COMMISSIONER MILLER SEEKS MEMBERS FOR NEW TEXAS OLIVE OIL ADVISORY BOARD
Thursday, July 18, 2019, Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the Texas Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications to fill nine seats on the new Texas Olive Oil Advisory Board created by the Texas Legislature earlier this year. The new board will be responsible for developing a plan to promote and expand the growing olive oil industry in the State of Texas. TDA Announces EPA Relaxes Restrictions on Use of Dicamba in Texas
Tuesday, June 25, 2019, AUSTIN – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has announced that the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has eased the restrictions on the use of the herbicide dicamba by Texas cotton farmers. This is a direct result of a cooperative push by the Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas A&M Agrilife Research and Extension Services and Texas cotton farmers. The current EPA label for dicamba is deemed too restrictive for the unique farming environment found in Texas.  [More]
