COMMISSIONER MILLER ANNOUNCES GLOBAL MARKET ASSESSMENTS TO BENEFIT TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMODITIES
AUSTIN- Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has partnered with the Center for North American Studies (CNAS) at Texas A&M AgriLife Research to provide global market assessments for more than a dozen Texas agricultural commodities. These assessments meet high-priority national needs by offering detailed insight on U.S. export market activity and allows Texas producers to have a competitive advantage on the trade front.  [More]

AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER NAMES THIS YEAR’S HEALTH AMBASSADORS FOR A READY TEXAS
AUSTIN- Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today announced his selections for the 2021-2022 class of Health Ambassadors for a Ready Texas (HART). These high school leaders will collaborate with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) and their school nutrition teams to champion local foods and Texas agriculture using resources such as TDA’s Farm Fresh Initiative. Ambassadors also promote school meals and healthy lifestyles during National School Lunch Week, Farm to School Month and other exciting events each semester.  [More]

TDA STAFF RECOGNIZED FOR EXCEPTIONAL WORK
AUSTIN- Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced TDA’s Region 1 Field Staff members Kyle Thompson, Joe Finley and Brandon Hubbard were recently honored at the 25th annual Texans Caring for Texans state recognition ceremony held at West Texas A&M University. Thompson, Finley and Hubbard received an award for going above and beyond the call of duty when delivering PPE and medical supplies to Texas hospitals last year during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.  [More]

It is time Texans and Americans wake from their summer slumber. The U.S. Senate’s recent passage of the massive $1 trillion infrastructure package does not prioritize the livelihoods of American farmers and ranchers. The impact of this legislative stink bomb threatens our economy, our way of life and our personal liberties. RESTRAINING ORDER GRANTED IN USDA RACIAL DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT
AUSTIN- This morning, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin has issued a temporary restraining order against the Biden Administration, temporarily ceasing payments under a new U.S. Department of Agriculture loan forgiveness program exclusively for minority agriculture producers. In April, Miller had also sued the federal government on this program in the U.S. District Court in Fort Worth but that court has not yet ruled.  [More]
