COMMISSIONER SID MILLER AWARDED $500,000 IN FUNDING FOR AGENCY'S GLOBAL TRADE EFFORT
AUSTIN- Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) awarded $500,000 in grant funding to the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) through the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grant program. COMMISSIONER SID MILLER SUPPORTS RURAL MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS
AUSTIN- Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has united with country music artist Jenna Paulette to encourage rural Texans to make mental health a top priority. Texas farmers and ranchers face an increased risk for suicide and mental health challenges. This is often due to social and geographical isolation, weather variability such as extreme droughts or flash floods, limited access to health services, and fluctuating commodity prices. The Texas Department of Agriculture’s AgriStress Helpline provides 24/7 support to these individuals who are struggling and may need help.  [More]

AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER HONORS TEXAS FARM AND RANCH FAMILIES AT 49th ANNUAL FAMILY LAND HERITAGE CEREMONY
In a celebration of agriculture and family heritage, Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) honored 45 farms and ranches spanning 36 Texas counties at the 49th Annual Family Land Heritage (FLH) ceremony at the State Capitol yesterday. COMMISSIONER SID MILLER APPOINTS REPRESENTATIVES TO THE TEXAS FOOD SYSTEM SECURITY AND RESILIENCY PLANNING COUNCIL
Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller selected four agriculture and food system professionals to serve on the Texas Food System Security and Resiliency Planning Council. During the 88th Regular Session, the Texas Legislature passed HB 3323, which established this special council in response to the Texas Food Access Study conducted by the Texas Department of Agriculture and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.  [More]

STATEMENT BY TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER ON PARAGUAYAN BEEF IMPORTS
“Today, I joined fellow state agriculture leaders from Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wyoming to express strong opposition to importing beef from Paraguay. The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) decision to allow Paraguayan beef imports threatens our nation’s agriculture industry. COMMISSIONER MILLER PARTNERS WITH USDA TO AWARD $11.5 MILLION TO STRENGTHEN FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN INFRASTRUCTURE
AUSTIN – Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) under the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program (RFSI). Through this agreement, USDA and Texas are working together to offer $11.5 million in competitive grant funding for projects designed to build resilience across the middle of the supply chain. TDA is accepting applications for this Infrastructure Grant funding through Feb. 15, 2024.  [More]
