COMMISSIONER MILLER SEEKS MEMBERS FOR NEW TEXAS OLIVE OIL ADVISORY BOARD
Thursday, July 18, 2019, Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the Texas Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications to fill nine seats on the new Texas Olive Oil Advisory Board created by the Texas Legislature earlier this year. The new board will be responsible for developing a plan to promote and expand the growing olive oil industry in the State of Texas. TDA Announces EPA Relaxes Restrictions on Use of Dicamba in Texas
Tuesday, June 25, 2019, AUSTIN – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has announced that the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has eased the restrictions on the use of the herbicide dicamba by Texas cotton farmers. This is a direct result of a cooperative push by the Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas A&M Agrilife Research and Extension Services and Texas cotton farmers. The current EPA label for dicamba is deemed too restrictive for the unique farming environment found in Texas.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Promotes a Healthy Summer for Young Texans
Thursday, June 6, 2019, AUSTIN – This week, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the kickoff of the Summer Food Service Program, an annual federally-funded effort to offer nutritious meals at no cost to children 18 years old or younger. By partnering with nonprofits, libraries, schools and other community organizations to operate summer meal sites across Texas, the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Summer Meal Programs help ensure more Texas children stay sharp and energized throughout the summer and return to school in the fall ready to succeed.  [More]
 
Commissioner Miller Extends Application Deadline for Annual Family Land Heritage Program
Friday, May 31, 2019, AUSTIN – Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is proud to invite Texas farmers and ranchers to apply for the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) Family Land Heritage (FLH) program, which pays tribute to families who have kept their land in continuous agricultural production for at least 100 years. Commissioner Miller Issues Call to Eliminate Back Up at the Border
Friday, April 5, 2019, AUSTIN – Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller issued a call to action for the legislature to eliminate a backup at the border . . . not of people, but products. With an increase in trade and some Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) personnel redirected to deal with the migrant crisis, some commercial trucks are waiting in lines up to 12 hours to get their products into the United States.  [More]
