COMMISSIONER MILLER SECURES CRITICAL FOOD ASSISTANCE TO HOUSTON RESIDENTS FOLLOWING SEVERE WEATHER
Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced his request for the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to operate the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Disaster Household Distribution (DHD) program was approved. This emergency measure will enable the Houston Food Bank to provide critical food assistance to residents in seven counties impacted by severe weather, extended power outages, and road closures.  [More]

Nationwide, the agriculture community is celebrating his remarkable contributions to agriculture, rural America, and the Western lifestyle industry through his visionary leadership at RFD-TV, The Cowboy Channel, The Cowgirl Channel, and Rural Radio 147. Patrick Gottsch began his career in rural broadcasting in Texas, starting at Superior Livestock Auction in 1991. COMMISSIONER MILLER ANNOUNCES 2024 RODEO SEASON ENDS WITH REMARKABLE SUCCESS FOR GO TEXAN PARTNERS
Thursday, May 16, 2024, Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller proudly announced the 2024 rodeo season marked an outstanding triumph for GO TEXAN partners. Sales across all six events totaled nearly half a million dollars, offering crucial support to small Texas-based businesses. Partners showcased their Texas-made products from January to May at kiosks and GO TEXAN Pavilions in Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, the Rio Grande Valley, Austin, and San Angelo. Particularly noteworthy was the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo General Store, which saw remarkable profits of $208,579 for its 48 Partners.  [More]
 
COMMISSIONER MILLER URGES SUPPORT FOR PARTNERS OFFERING CHILD NUTRITION AT SUMMER MEAL SITES AFTER JUNE 1
Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today announced that schools, churches, city governments, and other nonprofits will open no-cost meal sites across Texas on or around June 1. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers the Summer Meal Programs in Texas and these TDA partners provide no-cost meals for children 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to age 21 in low-income areas.  [More]
 
COMMISSIONER MILLER AND TDA HOST PESTICIDE WASTE COLLECTION EVENT IN ERATH COUNTY
Tuesday, May 14, 2024, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Miller, the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, and hazardous waste recycler Clean Earth joined forces on Tuesday, April 30, to host an Agricultural Pesticide Waste Collection event in Stephenville, Texas, in Erath County. COMMISSIONER MILLER URGES YOU TO REGISTER FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON GRAPEVINE EPIDEMIC DISEASES
Wednesday, April 10, 2024, AUSTIN- Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller urges all researchers, academics, viticulturists, government officials, policymakers, students, and enthusiasts to register now for the "International Symposium on Grapevine Epidemic Diseases: Pierce’s Disease & Flavescence dorée." This symposium, slated to be a pivotal gathering for researchers, professionals, and stakeholders in the viticulture sector, will dive into the latest advancements, strategies, and challenges in grapevine diseases. The symposium is scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2024, from 8 AM CST to 5 PM CST, at the Hotel Sonesta Bee Caves in Austin, Texas.
