TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER CALLS ON ENDING ADDITIONAL BORDER INSPECTIONS, URGES SHIFT TO DEFENDING TITLE 42 IN FEDERAL COURT
Tuesday, April 12, 2022, AUSTIN -- Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller called on the Governor of Texas to cease his truck inspection project, calling it a catastrophic policy which has now led to Mexican truckers blockading the border. Miller said that shifting Texas resources to fighting the lifting of Title 42 is the smart way to go. Title 42 is a longstanding federal law requiring the detention of aliens arriving in the United States who might transmit diseases of public health significance.  [More]
 
TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER ANNOUNCES PESTICIDE COLLECTION EVENT IN MERETA
Monday, April 11, 2022, AUSTIN – Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced a free agricultural pesticide waste collection event that will take place in Tom Green County on Wednesday, April 20th. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has partnered with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to bring this free service to ag producers. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the Lone Star Farmers Cooperative in Mereta, just 20 miles east of San Angelo.  [More]
 
2022 ANNUAL FAMILY LAND HERITAGE PROGRAM OPEN TO APPLICANTS
Wednesday, April 6, 2022, AUSTIN – Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller invited Texas farmers and ranchers to apply for the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) Family Land Heritage (FLH) program, which since 1974 has paid tribute to families who have kept their land in continuous agricultural production for at least 100 years. Families are asked to submit their applications for recognition in the 2022 FLH program by Monday, May 2, 2022. At the 47th annual recognition ceremony at the Texas Capitol this fall, Commissioner Miller will honor farms and ranches established in 1922 or earlier.  [More]
