STATEMENT BY TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER ASSURING FARMERS HEMP PRODUCTION WILL CONTINUE UNDER SB 3
“Texas farmers are worried about the effects of Senate Bill 3 on the hemp industry. This legislation does not ban growing hemp or planting hemp for biomass. It's a targeted effort to crack down on abuse of THC in the retail sector, not a ban on legitimate hemp farming.  [More]

OPINION: TEXAS PEACE OF MIND: A LIFELINE FOR RURAL TEXAS
Texas was built on true grit, God’s grace, and good old-fashioned hard work. Nowhere is that more alive than in our rural communities. But behind that proud tradition, we’ve got a real crisis, and it's one we can’t afford to ignore any longer: I’m talking about the mental health emergency in rural Texas. I’ve spent my life working in agriculture. I’ve experienced the strain of maintaining a ranch when the weather is uncooperative, markets are volatile, and bills won't stop accumulating. Our farmers and ranchers are some of the toughest folks ever. They bear a significant burden—decades of legacy, the responsibility of feeding millions, and the unpredictability of nature. Yet, even the strongest shoulders can buckle under excessive weight.  [More]

OPINION: FINALLY, A BREAK AT THE CHECKOUT LINE: THANKS, PRESIDENT TRUMP
After years of punishing, inflationary policies from Joe Biden and his liberal allies, American families are finally catching a break at the grocery store. Prices on essential goods—especially food—have dropped to the lowest levels we’ve seen in four years. That’s not just good news; it’s a lifeline for Texas families who’ve been squeezed to the breaking point.  [More]

STATEMENT FROM TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER ON TRUMP’S ANNOUNCEMENT ON CHINA TRADE VICTORY AND TARIFF REDUCTION
I commend President Donald J. Trump for unveiling the agreement with China aimed at reducing tariffs, eliminating retaliation, sustaining a baseline tariff on China, and laying the groundwork for future discussions to enhance market access for American exports. As part of this agreement, both the United States and China will reduce tariffs by 115%, while also maintaining an additional 10% tariff. Other measures from the U.S. will stay the same.  [More]

OPINION: TEXAS AGRICULTURE AND AMERICAN FOOD SECURITY: INNOVATION AND GROWTH
As Texas Agriculture Commissioner and a lifelong rancher, I've seen firsthand how technology has transformed our farms and revamped the way we do business. Modern producers now utilize precision agriculture tools to monitor soil conditions, track livestock, optimize irrigation, and manage resources with unprecedented efficiency. To power virtually all of these essential innovations, we require access to Wi-Fi connectivity that relies on unlicensed spectrum.  [More]
