OPINION: FIGHTING FOR TEXAS FARMLAND: THE BATTLE AT MULESHOE
Our nation’s agriculture industry is under siege, and the alarm bells are ringing loud and clear in the Texas Panhandle. The federal government is at it again, pushing for another major land grab at the Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge. While the feds like to dress up their land acquisitions as conservation and habitat protection, it’s clear this move is about more government control, and it comes at a high cost for Texas farmers and threatens our agriculture industry, our freedoms, and way of life. COMMISSIONER MILLER REMINDS FAMILIES TO APPLY FOR FREE AND REDUCED PRICE SCHOOL MEALS
Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller urges parents and guardians to request and return applications for free and reduced-price meals from their students' schools. Submitting these applications ensures eligible children can receive meals at no cost or a reduced price during the 2024-2025 school year. STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER MILLER REGARDING DEADLY SHOOTING AT TRUMP RALLY
"I was with President Trump at his rally tonight in Butler, Pennsylvania, I am shocked but unharmed. While I am grateful that  President Trump is safe and appears to have avoided serious injury, I am heartbroken over the tragic loss of an innocent bystander. My thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family as they grieve this senseless tragedy. I pray for the continued safety of President Trump and his family. COMMISSIONER MILLER URGES TEXANS TO PREPARE FOR POTENTIAL IMPACTS OF HURRICANE SEASON
Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) urge all Texans to be proactive and prepare for the potential effects of hurricanes during what is expected to be a busy hurricane season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasts seventeen to twenty-five named storms in the Atlantic during hurricane season from June to November. Eight to thirteen could become hurricanes, with four to seven being major storms. Hurricanes have historically impacted Texas communities, infrastructure, and agriculture. Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced his request for the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to operate the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Disaster Household Distribution (DHD) program was approved.
