STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER SID MILLER WELCOMING KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN TO TEXAS
Thursday, February 20, 2025, Businesses across the nation are choosing Texas as their destination for many reasons. Above all, no state is better for business than the Lone Star State. I am proud to welcome Kentucky Fried Chicken as they join the ranks of major companies like Charles Schwab Corporation, Chevron, Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), and SpaceX—along with many others seeking greater growth opportunities in Texas. STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER SID MILLER SUPPORTING LT. GOVERNOR DAN PATRICK’S CALL FOR AN EVALUATION OF TEXAS LOTTERY SECURITY
Thursday, February 20, 2025, As Texas Agriculture Commissioner, my top priority is ensuring fairness, integrity, and public trust in all areas under our agency’s oversight. The Texas Department of Agriculture plays a vital role in safeguarding the security of the Texas Lottery by conducting meticulous inspections of lottery ping pong balls. These inspections account for every variable—climate, lab conditions, and even the material of the weighing table—to guarantee absolute accuracy and prevent any chance of manipulation. Texans who purchase a lottery ticket deserve complete confidence in a fair and transparent process.  [More]

STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER SID MILLER APPLAUDING THE USDA DECISION TO SHIFT FROM POULTRY DEPOPULATIONS
Wednesday, February 19, 2025, I commend President Donald J. Trump for his decisive action in addressing the catastrophic mishandling of the bird flu outbreak by the Biden administration, which has devastated our nation’s poultry industry and driven up costs for American consumers. According to the USDA, bird flu-related depopulation has resulted in the loss of over 150 million birds since 2022, including more than 123 million laying hens. As a result, egg prices soared under Biden, climbing from $1.60 per dozen in February 2021 to a staggering $4.10 by December 2024. Now reaching a record high of $4.95 per dozen, American consumers are bearing the burden of the failed Biden response to this crisis.  [More]

STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER SID MILLER COMMENDING USDA SECRETARY BROOKE ROLLINS FOR ADVOCATING FOR A FEDERAL SOLUTION TO END FOREIGN-BOUGHT FARM AND RANCH LAND
Wednesday, February 19, 2025, I commend USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins for her steadfast commitment to advocating for a federal solution to the purchase of rural land by our nation’s foreign enemies, including Communist China. This has been a crisis I have long fought against, and not just in Texas. Americans want our farm and ranch land to be owned by Americans, not foreigners, especially those affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Not only are these land purchases damaging to agriculture producers, but much of the land purchased by China is located near our military bases. I have never understood why we allow our enemies to buy any land in the United States, no matter how it is used.  [More]
