Commissioner Miller Promotes a Healthy Summer for Young Texans
AUSTIN – This week, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the kickoff of the Summer Food Service Program, an annual federally-funded effort to offer nutritious meals at no cost to children 18 years old or younger. By partnering with nonprofits, libraries, schools and other community organizations to operate summer meal sites across Texas, the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Summer Meal Programs help ensure more Texas children stay sharp and energized throughout the summer and return to school in the fall ready to succeed. Commissioner Miller Extends Application Deadline for Annual Family Land Heritage Program
AUSTIN – Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is proud to invite Texas farmers and ranchers to apply for the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) Family Land Heritage (FLH) program, which pays tribute to families who have kept their land in continuous agricultural production for at least 100 years. As TDA continues this proud tradition of honoring true Lone Star pioneers, families are asked to submit their applications for recognition in the 2019 FLH registry by Monday, July 1. [More]

Commissioner Miller Issues Call to Eliminate Back Up at the Border
AUSTIN – Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller issued a call to action for the legislature to eliminate a backup at the border . . . not of people, but products. With an increase in trade and some Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) personnel redirected to deal with the migrant crisis, some commercial trucks are waiting in lines up to 12 hours to get their products into the United States.
