OPEN FOR 2024 WILDFIRE & SEVERE WEATHER RELIEF

The STAR Fund (State of Texas Agriculture Relief Fund) was created by the Texas Department of Agriculture to provide relief for Texas farmers and ranchers in times of disaster using monetary donations from private individuals and organizations.

STAR Fund is a reimbursement program designed to assist farmers, ranchers and agribusiness owners in rebuilding fences, restoring operations and paying for other agricultural disaster relief.

If you’d like to help ag producers impacted by the recent 2024 wildfires or other disasters, consider making a donation to the STAR Fund.

COMMISSIONER MILLER REMINDS FAMILIES TO APPLY FOR FREE AND REDUCED PRICE SCHOOL MEALS
Friday, August 2, 2024, Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller urges parents and guardians to request and return applications for free and reduced-price meals from their students' schools. Submitting these applications ensures eligible children can receive meals at no cost or a reduced price during the 2024-2025 school year. Schools determine eligibility based on household income, participation in other federal nutrition programs, or status as a foster child, homeless, runaway, migrant, or displaced by a declared disaster.  [More]

COMMISSIONER MILLER URGES TEXANS TO PREPARE FOR POTENTIAL IMPACTS OF HURRICANE SEASON
Friday, July 5, 2024, Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) urge all Texans to be proactive and prepare for the potential effects of hurricanes during what is expected to be a busy hurricane season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasts seventeen to twenty-five named storms in the Atlantic during hurricane season from June to November. Eight to thirteen could become hurricanes, with four to seven being major storms. Hurricanes have historically impacted Texas communities, infrastructure, and agriculture.
